On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, the following activities were carried out in Pudukkottai District: 1. GMHSS, Machuvadi – Environmental pledge, awareness speeches, rally, quiz competition, prize distribution, and tree plantation. 2. All 21 Green Schools – Awareness rallies and plantation of 10 saplings in each school campus. 3. Pudukkottai–Thanjavur Highway – Avenue plantation programme with 10 saplings planted. 4. Doctor's College, Pudukkottai – Plantation of 50 saplings. 5. Government Primary School, Kattuthittanvayal, Aranthangi – Tree plantation programme. 6. Narayana Chettiyar School, Ponnamaravathy – Tree plantation drive. 7. JMZ Oil Field Company, Keeranur – Tree plantation and awareness activities. 8. BHEL Campus, Thirumayam – Plantation of 50 saplings. The programmes were attended by Thiru. S. Ganesalingam, District Forest Officer, Pudukkottai; Thiru. K. Shanmugam, Chief Educational Officer, Pudukkottai; Forest Range Officers, Headmasters, teachers, Green Fellow, NGO representatives, students and public.
