    World Environment day 2026 - Programmes and activities conducted in kancheepuram district. 1. Forest department- All 5 ranges planted nearly 350 saplings under GTM scheme across our district. 2. Kancheepuram Corporation - Installed plastic collection bins across kpm and planted saplings. Commissioner, mayor, training collector and private stakeholders participated. 3. School education dept- Under Eco- Clubs and EEP scheme, nearly 50 schools' teachers and students planted approximately 5 - 10 Saplings each in their respective campuses. And all eco club registered schools made their children take Eco- Pledge. Various competitions were conducted. CEO planted saplings in collectorate campus. 4. Pollution control board- Conducted plantation drive and distributed cloth bags, created anti- plastic campaigns. 5. Sipcot- Sapling distribution to employees and Plantation drives were conducted in various Private companies. 6. Public people, NGO, school and college students took part in the activities conducted.
